Overview
The scenic route from Moshi
Starting from the town of Moshi, this 7-day Kilimanjaro climb follows the beautiful, tented Machame Route — the most scenic way up the mountain. Its “climb high, sleep low” profile through rainforest, the Shira Plateau, the Barranco Wall and beneath the Southern Icefields gives excellent acclimatisation on the way to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the Roof of Africa.

Frequently asked questions
How high is Kilimanjaro and what is the summit?
Kilimanjaro’s summit is Uhuru Peak at 5,895m — the highest point in Africa and the world’s tallest free-standing mountain. It is a non-technical walk-up, but the altitude makes it a serious challenge.
Why climb the Machame Route from Moshi?
Machame is Kilimanjaro’s most scenic route and its “climb high, sleep low” profile gives strong acclimatisation and high summit success. Starting from Moshi keeps the transfers to the trailhead short and easy.
What do I need to pack for Kilimanjaro?
Warm insulated layers, a windproof and waterproof jacket, a warm sleeping bag, broken-in hiking boots, gloves, a warm hat, sun protection and a headtorch. We provide a full packing list on booking, and gear such as sleeping bags and poles can be hired.
